Mark Peterson

Mark Peterson currently serves as corporate vice president and general counsel of Edwards Lifesciences. He is a former longtime partner with O’Melveny & Myers LLP, an international law firm, where he focused on corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate governance matters.
Peterson began his legal career in 1991 with O’Melveny and later served as general counsel and chief legal officer for three different companies from 1997 to 2011. He returned to O’Melveny in 2011 as a partner and remained there until 2025.
In addition to serving on the USA Volleyball Foundation board, Peterson has served as a board member for the public company Meade Instruments, as well as the South Coast Repertory Theater, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, the Forum for Corporate Directors, and the UCI Audit Committee Roundtable. He is also an adjunct professor in the MBA program at UC Irvine. Peterson earned a BS in accounting from BYU in 1988 and a JD from Cal in 1991.
